What is a philanthropist?

The set of common words that we use with you once were the names of real people or characters of famous works. So we often call Plyushkin a man carrying and collecting trash. And the word happened thanks to Gogol and his "Dead Souls". But this is just one example of many.

And who is the "patron"? The word patron came from the name of Roman Guy Tsilniy Patron, who once helped the art gratuitously and disinterestedly. A nominal "philanthropist" - a person who donated from his own money for the development of art and science - happened on his behalf. A person engaged in a kind of charity.
