What to do when frostbite

You will need
  • - warm tea;
  • - bandages or gauze;
  • - cotton wool;
  • - oilcloth or film;
  • - 100 g of wax;
  • - 500 g of unrefined sunflower oil;
  • - 10 cut donuts in onions;
  • - A handful of spruce sulfur.
In case of severe frostbite it is recommended to immediately call an ambulance. In the meantime, doctors are driving, carrying or taking the victim from the cold into a warm room. A frostbitten limb cannot be rubbed, especially with snow, because it injures the capillaries and will only get worse. It is better to give a drink of warm tea with sugar and wait for an ambulance.
If frostbite is insignificant, you can do it yourself. Gradually warm the frostbitten arm or leg in cool water (20 ° C), slowly raising the temperature for 10-15 minutes to 40 ° C. At the same time make a light massage.
Then on a frost-bitten part of the body you need to put a warm bandage. To do this, first wrap the affected surface with gauze, then put a layer of cotton, then again - gauze, cotton and, finally, oilcloth or plastic film.Finally, you need to insulate with a handkerchief or woolen cloth. Observe the condition of the victim, if the temperature has risen and blisters appear on the skin, medical treatment and even hospitalization are required.
Prepare an ointment for frostbite on the basis of beeswax. Heat the sunflower oil with onion bottoms and a handful of spruce sulfur, heat and cook for 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, strain and put the wax in the hot oil. It will quickly melt, mix the ointment and cool. Keep refrigerated and lubricate frost-bitten skin.
