The Heartbreaking Reason Why This Sweet Wedding Moment Had The Entire Church in Tears
In support of his beloved daughter's wedding day, one man, who was left a quadriplegic after a terrible car accident, managed to walk the bride down the aisle—and left the whole church in tears.
Photographer Nicole Ashley, 29, who was photographing the wedding in Alberta, Canada managed to capture the tear-inducing moment on film. In what was deemed impossible, Boden completed his journey down the aisle and delivered his daughter, Kendra, to her groom, John Badry.
This photo wasn't taken on the edge of a cliff, on a mountain or with an incredible sunset. There's no flowers or expensive decor in it. This was taken in a small, poorly lit church in Camrose, Alberta. But this is one of my favourite images. This photo was taken at the moment a father reached the end of the aisle to shake his daughters soon to be husband's hand. After becoming a quadriplegic from an accident, it was his goal to walk his daughter down the aisle. With wheelchair modifications he was able to surprise everyone and do just that. My heart nearly ballooned out of my chest. What an incredible life moment. I have never cried that hard at a wedding. So thankful I was able to be apart [sic] of it
The black and white photograph shows the glowing bride, clearly proud of her father's huge achievement, and Boden's happy face as he shakes the hand of his soon-to-be son-in-law.
Boden was left paralyzed after a 16-year-old girl was texting behind the wheel and hit him. He's since been very vocal about the issue. Said Ashley, "He spoke about the dangers of distracted driving at the reception which was also a really powerful moment. Everyone was crying."
Boden had apparently undertaken incredibly intense physical therapy in order to build muscle again to be able to walk after his severe injuries. He went to physiotherapy three times a week before the wedding, and then used a special walker and the help of his wife to escort his daughter, Kendra, down the aisle, stunning the entire room. Ashley reports that "A lot of people didn't realize that he was able to walk with even a walker.
