Snake mitten toy
You have probably seen more than once how adults play with children, depicting a snake with their hands. For such games I suggest sewing a toy-mitten "Snake".
For production you will need: - thin cardboard; - pencil, ruler, compasses - scissors, - dense fabric of different colors; - needle, thread under the color of fabric (for those who "make friends" with the sewing machine a little easier); - glue, newspaper, toilet paper, brush. First you need to collect the paper base of the snake's head. The head consists of the upper and lower elements. They are very similar, the difference in size and slightly in shape. Therefore, in detail we consider the construction of only the upper element. It consists of two parts - the oral plate and the head itself.
The oral plate is cut from the cardboard and is the same for the upper and lower head elements. When you cut two mouthpieces, put them on the flat side and circle them on paper.
Get a double pattern which we still need. The cardboard should be thin - soft enough to bend and strong enough not to lose shape when wrapped. The top part - the head itself - is cut out according to the drawing.
Cuts in the front part are glued together (or sewn together) to obtain a convex shape. Then the upper part is bent and glued to the mouth plate. For quickness of the process, you can sew on large stitches, while retaining the possibility of correcting possible errors. Now, for durability, we paste the obtained shape with a paper using the technique of papier-mâché. In inconvenient places — on a fold, in places of cuts — it is better to use toilet paper instead of a newspaper. It better envelops irregularities. We cut paper on squares of approximately 1.5 x 1.5 cm, greasing the place of pasting with glue with a brush, with a brush with glue we touch the piece of paper, transfer it to the prepared area, smooth it with a brush. We put 2 - 3 layers of papier-mache. To remove the angularity in the places of the cuts, we wet the problem areas with water with a brush from two sides, after a few minutes the form will soften slightly and with fingers we add the desired smoothness. Paste another 4 - 5 layers. It turns out quite strong form of the upper part of the head. In the same way, we prepare the bottom element.
The dimensions are indicated in such a way that four fingers are placed in the upper part the hands of an adult, and in the bottom - the thumb.
We combine the upper and lower elements, make sure that there is no skew, we sew on the flat side. A piece of thick fabric (for example, from jeans) glue the parts so that the fabric covers the wholelevel plot.
After the glue dries from the mouth, we cut it. Snake body cloth should be thick, not very thick, if it stretches a little (not knitwear) - an additional plus. The colors can be different, with a pattern or without a pattern. On the upper (back) and lower (abdomen) parts we select different colors. For eyes monochromatic light, for pupils black. We cut the upper part - the back.
Cut out the pattern and sew from dark matter (better on a typewriter).
Make a 1 cm wide strip of black fabric and sew eyes vertically in the middle. To make the eye positioned vertically, we sew the back of the eye and insert a cardboard insert cut from the pattern.
Symmetrical eyes.On the marked place on the back we sew our eyes.
Sewing incompletely, leaving a gap of several stitches. Through this gap, fill the eye with cotton wool. We roll a small piece of cotton wool and pushes it inside. Repeat until complete. After filling the eye with cotton, cover the gap.
Cut the abdomen.
