Shooting at Oregon High School
This morning, authorities were called to Reynolds High, a school about 12 miles east of Portland, after reports of gunfire. The school remains on lockdown after a gunman armed with an assault rifle opened fire. The gunman is after being cornered in a bathroom. The situation is said to be "stabilized."
Reports say one student was fatally wounded prior to the gunman's death, while other sources still report no injuries. Students were evacuated from the school to reunite with their parents in the parking lot. The superintendent Linda Florence said, "This is a very tragic day, one that I had hoped would never ever be part of my experience."
Police and SWAT teams are continuing to search the build to ensure everything is completelyunder control and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives will assist in the investigation. There are over 2,800 students who attend the school and the last day of the school year is scheduled to end Wednesday.
