Peculiarities of cultivation of cognitive

In the garden of every true amateur gardener there is a place for unusual and even exotic plant varieties, to which the culprit of today's topic belongs. Knofofiya is a very bright and beautiful decorative flower, which with its exotic flowers is able to decorate any area, add unexpected colors and freshness to it.

This plant has come to us from Africa, where it grows in large groups along the banks of various water bodies and rivers. In addition, it can be found on the island of Madagascar.

The flower received such an unusual name in honor of the botanist I. Kniphof: hence the second name of Kniphofia. Thanks to its outward originality, booklet even without flowers looks as decorative as possible: narrow, xiphoidal leaves reach a height of 90 cm and are assembled into a rather large juicy rosette.

They look original, both in solitary form and in a group, most often they choose places near water bodies or low fences. From the beginning of June to September, large sultan-shaped or spike-shaped inflorescences constantly appear from the center of the sockets, reaching a height of 1 meter.

At their ends in dense order arranged tubular dense flowers. The colors are the most different and incredibly juicy - ranging from bright yellow, flowing into orange, ending in maroon, light green, yellow green, scarlet and orange. A real fire in your garden!

Care of book publishing

How to grow bookprinting? Quite a valid question, because all exotic plants require special attention from the gardener. Noteworthy is the fact that this plant, despite its origin, is able to withstand rather low temperatures: down to -15 °!

This makes it possible to grow such a flower in the open field, even in mid-latitude conditions, although it is important for this to comply with special requirements.

The main cause of death or lack of flowering is not at all a low temperature in winter, but an over-wetting of the soil, which is typical of our climate. That is why it is very important to choose the right place for landing: a hill that is well warmed up, as well as the possibility of diverting water during the thaw period.

For abundant flowering and growth, the soil must be fertile; usually, a soil mixture based on leaves, humus and sand is prepared for this.Such a flower is often grown directly from the seeds: they are usually sown at the end of March in a special greenhouse, where the book grows for 3 weeks.

The greenhouse is periodically aired, the plant is moistened, and after the emergence of shoots the film is removed. On a permanent "place of residence" seedlings are planted around July. With regular dressings and proper care, it will bloom in the 2nd year.

Knifofiya able to endure a short period of drought, but more still prefers moderate watering. The soil around the plant must be treated from weeds, in the spring to use mineral fertilizers.

In autumn, dry inflorescences should be cut off, rosettes collected in bundles and bandaged, and top covered with dry grass and leaves. If in your region the winters are severely harsh, then the plant should be excavated and transplanted into large pots for the winter.

As you can see, in the cultivation of such an exotic flower, in fact, there is nothing particularly difficult: if you put in a little effort, your garden will literally light up with bright torches-inflorescences that will quickly turn into real pride.
