How to make a coffee table
We all try to make the interior of our apartment cozy and at the same time functional. One of the main roles in the creation of such harmony is played by pieces of furniture, thanks to which a comfortable and comfortable space is created. The coffee table is a very specific thing and does not fit all interiors, but nevertheless, it is this interior element that can combine different styles and create an atmosphere of ease and relaxation. In the proposals of furniture stores, you can find tables of various designs, but anyone who distinguishes a screwdriver from a chisel can completely independently make an original coffee table with their own hands. What is needed for this? First of all - the material from which the table will be made, tools, fixtures, rollers, tape measure. Our table will be made on the basis of laminated sheets of chipboard or from old waste, which has served its own, walls. We invent the look of our table and draw a sketch. And even better to immediately make a drawing so that you can see all the sizes. Our table will consist of an upper and lower cover, fastened with side walls, and in the middle there will be a shelf for small things (it also serves as a spacer to enhance the strength of the structure). With the size of everything is strictly individual, but do not forget that the coffee table can not measure the size of the dining room. The top cover of the table from the example will be 65 cm long and 45 cm wide.Accordingly, the bottom cover will be 55x35 cm in size. The projection of the side wall support is 20 cm. The length and width of the middle shelf is 46 and 20 cm. The height of the table is 45 cm. without clips. Confirmats, furniture plastic and metal corners will be used as fasteners. We mark on the stove the dimensions of the upper and lower covers, sides and middle shelf. Then, using the jigsaw, cut out the lined parts along the outlined lines. The surface of the chipboard has a high tendency to scoop, so we must try to reduce the influence of various factors on this process. The jigsaw file should have the smallest tooth, and the speed regulator on the tool should be set to position 0. However, even with such measures taken, chips and burrs can still appear, so after cutting you need to go through the rasp on cuts, moving the tool only “away from you ". When sawing the sidewalls, it is better to use clamps and pull both plates face down. So we get exactly the same details. Thus we receive all preparations of our table. Next we need to collect the middle part of the table. In order not to spoil the details, we will first outline and drill all the necessary holes, and then we will make a preliminary assembly. We put the sidewalls vertically (for alignment) and measure the middle, along this line the middle shelf will be fastened. We drill in line 2 holes for confirmats. If there is no special drill, then you can use three of the usual - for the threaded part, under the thickening and under the bonnet. To the holes were at the same distance, and, respectively, and the middle would be aligned, you need to add both sides and drill them at the same time. After that, you need to do the same operation with the shelf itself, making holes in its ends (be sure to try on the sidewalls). After pre-assembling the middle and assessing the correctness of actions, you can proceed to the next step. Now you need to glue the ends of the details with a decorative edge (it is sold in any building supermarket). This will require a heated iron. Apply the edge of the adhesive side to the end and gently iron it with a hot iron. We make sure that no voids form under the edge. If the width of the decorative ribbon is greater than the width of the end, then we cut off the excess with a wallpaper knife and we clean the cuts with a fine emery cloth. The next step is to attach the middle to the lower and upper covers. We have the middle part exactly in the middle of the upper surface of the bottom cover. Here you need to carefully measure the distance from the edges, so as not to get offset. We use furniture corners as fasteners, which are fastened to the details with self-tapping screws. We do the same with the top cover. Now we just need to screw the rollers. On the bottom surface of the bottom cover we mark out the places under the installation, observing the same distances, and with the help of screws we strengthen the rollers. It remains to close the confirmatory caps with decorative caps and put the table in its place.
