Corner shelf

The corners in the room almost always remain unoccupied, and in the meantime there is quite enough space to accommodate a small shelf, shelving or suspension. From a design point of view, the angular location gives some advantage, because such a joint of the walls expands the possibilities of using various configurations of structures and fasteners used in this. If we compare the regular and corner shelves, then you can immediately notice how the latter look more diverse and attractive. Let's try to decorate your house with such a corner shelf.
 shelf drawing
The most popular material for the manufacture of shelves are wood, furniture, MDF, laminated chipboard, etc. Sometimes the shelves are made of improvised means - laminate, plastic or even drywall. We will not change the traditions and as a raw material we take a furniture plate. To work you need a jigsaw, drill, various fasteners, tape measure and a pencil. First you need to make a sketch of the future shelf for clarity of working processes. tools
The shelf will be about 70 cm high with three sections. It will be fastened through vertical elements with the help of a dowel-nails, and the parts will be joined together by confirmatics.
 draw out measure
The first thing to do is to mark all the details on the plate. This is usually done with a pencil, but if the plate has a dark surface, then the pencil trace will not be noticeable, in this case you can use a knife. You need to cut it with the blade, not pressing hard, and then a thin, white, noticeable line will appear along which sawing is easy.

For sawing elements of the shelf you can use an electric jigsaw. The saw blade must be with a fine tooth and designed for woodwork. The saw speed regulator on the jigsaw needs to be set to the minimum value, and the mode selection knob should be set to “0”. To facilitate the assembly of the shelf, it is necessary to number the parts in the drawing, and then put the corresponding values on the elements themselves.

After all the parts have been cut, you need to drill holes in them for connecting the confirmatics. It is much easier to do it consistently. First you need to make holes in the shelf, and then drill through the holes corresponding to them in the supporting element. If there are no special drills for confirmats, then it is necessary to use 3 ordinary drills with different diameters - for the screw part, the thickening and the euro screw cap.

Immediately at this stage, you can make holes for mounting the shelf to the wall. It will be attached with dowel-nails 6x80 mm through the supporting elements. All holes must be pinned, this is necessary in order for the nail head to be flush with the surface. drill holes for screws When all details are cut out you can start decorating the edges.First, all edges cleaned of dust and sawdust formed during sawing. Then we apply an edgeband to the ends and, using a heated iron (preferably taking an old, unused) we glue it to open surfaces. This trimming tape is produced with a standard width of 1.8 mm and the thickness of the furniture plate is only 1.5 cm, therefore part of the tape remains redundant and must be removed. Cut off the extra part of the edge with a regular wallpaper knife.

Formed The face is cleaned with sandpaper with fine grain. You can close the ends with any other available method, for example, use a decorative cord, braid, special paper or cardboard. Now you need to assemble the shelf. We carry out assembly according to the numbered scheme. For tightening the confirmatics, use the hex key. Try on the assembled structure for the place intended for it and mark the fixing points on the wall. For drilling in concrete or stone walls we use a drill with a pointy tip.On the sting of the drill you can pre-note the depth of drilling required for the prepared dowel. So that the dust generated during the drilling process does not scatter, you can stick a paper pocket on the wall for the workplace.

After completing the drilling work, insert the dowels into the holes and fix it with screw nails through the corresponding elements of the shelf, drowning the caps. This can be done with a hammer or a conventional Phillips screwdriver.

Or choose a different outline of the end parts, in which case the shelf will acquire additional decoration.
